Amazon - Peru | Cusco & Machu Picchu | Lake Titicaca | Lima & surrounds |

Peru

A diversity of cultures, the new world capital of dining, a time travel back to the Inca civilization, and, last but not least, Machu Picchu, the so called 8th world wonder, are all to be found in Peru.
All over Peru, you will encounter an Asian influence but nowhere else is that more obvious than in Lima and more so in the local Peruvian cuisine. The culinary history of Peru goes back to Pre-Incan time and is worldwide know with the introduction of the potato. The Asian influence in culture and cuisine are responsible for an abundance of flavors that is unique and made Lima the World Capital of food and dinning. People from all over the World are arriving to Lima for the sole purpose to experience a cebiche (raw fish marinated in lemon juice) and a taste of the national drink Pisco Sour.
Although food is a very important part of the Peruvian culture, Peru has a lot more to offer. Peru is known for a very rugged and inhospitable territory, yet this did not hinder for one of the most famous civilizations to emerge from here – the Incans. Cuzco was once the capital of the Incan Empire, and it is here where still to this day, every year new archeological remains are discovered.
Without a doubt, the most famous found was in 1911 and is the destination of millions of visitors every year, the Machu Picchu. It literally translates to “Old Mountain” and is also known as “The lost city of the Incans”. Visitors to Machu Picchu often come describe the experience of the site as magical and surreal. You will be able to see firsthand how far ahead in its time the Incan civilization was developed.
It is believed that Lake Titicaca was where the Tawantinsuyu (Incan Empire) was born before they traveled to Cusco and formed the capital of the civilization. The Lake Titicaca is the natural border between Peru and Bolivia and you will be able to experience a boat trip across that brings you past the floating islands of the Uros people and their astonishing traditions as well as marvelous natural scenery and a unique fauna and flora.
The complete the diversity of Peru, make sure you have time to visit the Jungle region of the Amazon, where you will encounter a tropical climate and fauna that is part of the planet´s largest natural reserves.
