Take it easy on your first day and allow your body to acclimatize but thereafter, if you can, set out on to the altiplano and you will be amazed at the richness of the wildlife, both flora and fauna. Check out one of the salt flats (plenty around). Also the Tatio geyser but get there early enough to observe it in its full grandeur. Try some horseback riding with a full stable of horses that can cater to every level. Or some desert-biking. These are good alternatives to trekking on foot.
